Your Name Don't Rhyme With Heartache

by Rick Hart

about

'Your Name Don't Rhyme With Heartache' is the third single from Melbourne, alt country troubadour, singer-songwriter Rick Hart's forthcoming sophomore album. Leaning heavily on Hart's love of classic country and honky tonk, the track has old school country all over it.

lyrics

There's plenty of names that rhyme with blue
Marylou or even Sue
And they would have made it easy to write this song
Now your parents could have named you Jane
At least that would've rhymed with pain
And that's the only thing I feel since you've been gone

But they went and named you Alison
Now that's a pretty name for sure
But if names should all have meaning
Then tell me what does yours stand for
Now just why they named you Alison I never really understood
Cause your name don't rhyme with heartache
But I think it probably should

They could have named you Bernadine, ‘cause there's a side to you that's oh so mean
And it's a side I've grown to know for far too long
Maybe even Annabelle, ‘cause you've made my life a living hell
And the flames I thought would die still linger on

But they went and named you Alison
Now that's a pretty name for sure
But if names should all have meaning
Then tell me what does yours stand for
Now just why they named you Alison I never really understood
Cause your name don't rhyme with heartache
But I think it probably should

Maryanne or even Sam or maybe Caroline
Now they may not rhyme with heartache
But I'm sure there's words I'd find
To tell you how you left my heart in a cold and dying state
Now to rhyme with what I just told you
Hell they could've named you Kate

But they went and named you Alison
Now that's a pretty name for sure
But if names should all have meaning
Then tell me what does yours stand for
Now just why they named you Alison I never really understood
Cause your name don't rhyme with heartache
But I think it probably should
